Let’s talk

Software. Technology. Your business.

Penetration testing. Clear findings. Practical fixes.

Web application and API penetration testing with detailed reports, clear remediation priorities and optional fixing and retesting from Devonate.

The client situation

Your next release needs confidence in how the application protects your business and your customers.

How we help

Uncover exploitable weaknesses in your web applications and APIs. Get a detailed, Devonate-reviewed report showing the evidence, business impact and recommended fixes. When you need help putting them right, our additional remediation service implements the agreed changes and retests them.

What changes

  • Evidence that shows how a vulnerability can be exploited
  • A clear view of the risk to your data, users and business
  • Priorities and practical recommendations your engineering team can act on
  • An optional route from findings to implemented and retested fixes

Representative scope

What the work may involve.

Scope and responsibilities are agreed with your team for each engagement.

  1. 01Authentication and signed-in journeys: test whether weaknesses could let an attacker take over an account or bypass login.
  2. 02Access controls: test whether users can reach another customer’s data or actions reserved for administrators.
  3. 03Injection: test whether untrusted input can alter database queries or execute unintended commands.
  4. 04Cross-site scripting (XSS): test whether injected scripts can run in a user’s browser and misuse their access.
  5. 05Server-side request forgery (SSRF): test whether the application can be made to send requests to unintended or internal destinations.

Supporting capabilities

  • Web applications
  • API security
  • Authenticated testing
  • Source-code analysis
  • Evidence-based reporting

Your deliverable

A report your team can act on.

Understand what matters, why it matters and what to do next. Devonate reviews the findings and supporting evidence before delivering your report, connecting technical detail with the decisions your business needs to make.

  • Executive summary: a clear overview of the findings and their implications for the business.
  • Scope and limitations: the application, environment and user roles assessed, plus coverage boundaries and anything that could not be tested.
  • Severity and business impact: a reasoned assessment of each finding and the potential consequences for data, users and operations.
  • Affected functionality and reproducible evidence: where the weakness occurs, the conditions needed to exploit it and steps to reproduce the demonstrated behaviour.
  • Recommended fixes and remediation priorities: practical guidance to help your team decide what to address first.

Optional additional service

Turn findings into verified fixes.

Fix recommendations are included in your assessment. Implementing them is a separately scoped, additional service. Devonate can make the agreed code or configuration changes, working with your team’s review and release process.

  • Agree the priorities, implementation scope and responsibilities before fixing work begins.
  • Implement the agreed changes and check the affected application behaviour.
  • Carry out targeted retesting of the fixes Devonate delivers to check whether the demonstrated vulnerabilities have been addressed.
  • Provide a verification summary showing what was retested, the results and any remaining issues within that scope.

How it works

A clear scope. A practical next step.

We combine source-code analysis and AI-assisted testing against a running application, followed by Devonate’s review. Prepare access to the source code, relevant test accounts and an authorised staging or development environment with disposable test data. Active testing takes place in this agreed non-production environment.

  • Agree scope and access: confirm written authorisation, the application and API boundaries, user roles, objectives and timing.
  • Analyse and test: examine the source and exercise the agreed application journeys to validate exploitable weaknesses.
  • Review and report: assess the evidence, explain the impact and deliver prioritised recommendations. Results describe the agreed scope at the time of testing; they do not guarantee that every vulnerability has been found.
  • Optionally fix and retest: commission remediation separately, with targeted verification of the changes we deliver.
